Mario de ' Fiori 37 and Holidays with Julia Roberts
In the heart of Rome’s city center is Via Mario de' Fiori, a small oasis that offers a break from the hustle and bustle of the most famous shopping streets in Rome. The street gave its name to this boutique hotel housed in a seventeenth century building. The patron, Alberto Moncada di Paterno, is a descendant of a noble Roman family linked with a long history, returning to Italy after years spent abroad, including United States, United Kingdom and Switzerland.
Mario de’ Fiori has only seven rooms and suites, some as large as 36 square meters, with original wooden beamed ceilings. Inspired by ancient Rome, the rooms are decorated with Roman travertine marble, mosaic, iron and copper. The king- size beds have luxurious Frette cotton sheets. On the walls, there are photographs of Carlo Gavazzeni, the Milanese artist who portrayed iconic landmarks such as Castel Sant ' Angelo.
The rooms are equipped with automatic air conditioning, flat -screen satellite TV, free wireless internet access, mini-bar, and Nespresso coffee machine. Breakfast can be served in the room . Guests have a concierge available at check in and check out who provides useful information about places of interest and events in the city .
But the best recommendations from chic stores to restaurants are suggested by the owner: the trattoria da Mario (Via Della Vite 55), da Cesaretto (Via Della Croce 39), La Buvette (Via Vittoria 44) and l’ Antico Caffe ' Canova (Via del Babuino 150).
